When the NCHSAA Class 2A Volleyball State Play-off Volleyball pairings came out Tuesday, West Bladen’s Lady Knights qualified as expected. However the bad news was that the Lady Knights would have to travel 240 miles to the northeast corner of the state to play Elizabeth City Northeastern.
Coach Gaye Davis’ Lady Knights (10-9) are the No. 10 seed in the East. Northeastern (16-6) is the No. 7 seed in the East and was the third-place team in the Northeastern Coastal Conference.
The match will be played Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Northeastern High in Elizabeth City.
Other Four County Conference teams receiving play-off berths in the Class 2A East are: Midway No. 3 and Clinton No. 11. In the Class 1A East, Wallace-Rose Hill is the No. 2 seed and Pender is the No. 13 seed.
