CLINTON – Clinton rode a 17-5 surge in the middle quarters to a 35-18 Four County Conference jayvee girls basketball victory over East Bladen.
Freshmen Izzy Smith and Miasha Smith tossed in 2 baskets each in the first quarter, and Jayme LeeAnn Frady threw in a basket as the Lady Eagles grabbed a 10-8 first quarter lead. Clinton pulled even 10-10 at the quarter break.
Izzy Smith worked the paint for another basket in the second period, and Miasha Smith sank a free throw, but the Lady Dark Horses opened up a 20-13 halftime lead.
Izzy Smith flipped in the only East Bladen basket of the third quarter. Shanya Allen connected for a fourth period basket, and Shanell McMillian hit a free throw.
The Lady Eagles will host Pender Friday night.
