Cape Fear Valley Health is hosting its second annual Pediatric Diabetes Camp this weekend at Camp Dixie, 373 Bladen Union Church Rd. in Fayetteville. The event begins today, Friday, July 10, at 5 p.m., and continue thr
ough Sunday, July 12.
This is the only pediatric diabetes camp of its kind in Southeastern North Carolina and the first time it includes overnight stays for campers. The event was created to help children under age 18 to better manage their diabetes.
Outdoor activities will be held weekend-long, as well as educational group sessions. The camp concludes Sunday with educational activities and fun for the entire family.
Pediatric diabetes is a growing problem throughout the U.S., especially Type 2 diabetes. The World Health Organization classifies diabetes as a worldwide epidemic.
